Super Mario Odyssey: Ranking All 8 Revealed Kingdoms So Far

6. Bubblaine - Seaside Kingdom

Bubblaine looks really good in all honesty. The problem is, we've seen this kind of level before in nearly every single 3D Mario game to date. The typical idyllic beach level is all well and good, offering up a mixture of both on land platforming and underwater antics, but it's definitely not new. Hell, Super Mario Sunshine based its entire premise on levels like these. Having Bubblaine in the game is fine, just don't expect it to be the most intriguing world Mario visits. Super Mario Odyssey's beach level offering does admittedly have some unique aspects compared to its predecessors.

For instance, you can capture a Cheep Cheep and use it to roam the seabed free of worrying about Mario drowning, which should make underwater exploration a treat compared to normal. There's also an inventive boss fight against a giant octopus, who's sucking up all the water. At the end of the day, what Bubblaine lacks in originality, it makes up for in charm. It definitely looks like it'll be a fun, relaxing stage. Admittedly this is also the level where Mario gets to run around in his undies, which isn't too relaxing. The snail NPCs are really creepy too.
