5. OBIS - Organised Bandits In Skyrim

The bandits in Skyrim were one of the standard enemy types, alongside the Draugr. They were everywhere, and beyond a having a few stronger variants, the bandits were pretty standard. Populating nearly every other location, it was damn near impossible to not run into them every few steps. But similarly to the Draugr, they suffered from becoming repetitive.

However, OBIS – Organised Bandits in Skyrim, implements a genuinely interesting and engaging system of various bandit groups. With unique bands of bandits, the world became full of various styles of bandits, such as those who focus purely on magic or others pumped up on Skooma. Dozens of different types all now come with their own unique mechanic, resulting in nearly every bandit encounter being unique and interesting.

If Bethesda were to learn from OBIS, they could make their standard enemies incredibly engaging. By simply giving different bandits, different sets of armour or abilities, each bandit camp can be its own unique challenge, with the player adapting to which ever group they encounter. And with Bethesda being able to make them all lore friendly and fit with the world.

And with bandits having personality to a certain extent, they become more than simple cannon fodder and could even be used for their own storylines and could also serve as factions for the player to join. Combined with Master of Disguise, this could be even better as you'd then have the possibility of blending in with certain bandits, or being associated with bandit groups simply by wearing specific armours.
