The Last Of Us Part II: 5 Take-Aways From Sony's E3 Conference
4. Ellie's Made Some New Friends
From her brief interactions with others, it's clear that Ellie has settled into her new digs well, especially with regards to her friends.
She kisses one girl, and talks to another friend in an intimate way - clearly she's finally found others who she can rely on, and it's unlikely Joel will take kindly to this. From the sounds of it, he's the patriarch of the settlement he's in, although we don't see him at all.
It's clear that Ellie has a reputation around camp. She has to reassure people she's "not a threat", despite others saying they should be "terrified of you".
One level in The Last of Us sees the player controlling Ellie, and she makes her way into a bandit camp and kills a lot of people. This game is set five years after then, and from the sounds of it Ellie learned to get used to slaughter.
