The Witcher Movie: 10 Actors Who Could Play Geralt Of Rivia

9. Mads Mikkelsen

What is it about these actors of Danish descent that makes them so damn perfect for the role of Geralt? Something in those cool, fresh fjord waters perhaps, or a vestige of viking heritage that gets conveyed through their acting as a mysterious air of menace... Whatever the reasons, Mads Mikkelsen would be an excellent alternative to Mr. Mortensen if the movie was to chart Geralt's later years. His performances burn with a quiet intensity that says to us that this is a man in complete control - the same kind of coldly comforting presence offered by Geralt. While in recent years he's been associated with more cerebral performances in Hannibal and The Hunt, Mikkelsen has a large - if not entirely high-quality - resume of medieval-set movies. Say what you will about King Arthur and Clash of the Titans, but if there's one thing they prove is that he can pull off the long, dirty medieval locks-and-beard look. In Age of Uprising, we even see him sporting white hair - just get him some yellow contact lenses and he's good to go (as you can see by my subtle photoshopping efforts). Performance-wise, Mads' mute, lethal turn in Valhalla Rising makes for the best audition tape when casting for Geralt.
