THQ's Comeback: 7 Other Video Game Franchises That Need Reviving

There really aren't too many main-stay Real Time Strategy franchises out there, so it really is a shame that EA have not really acted on their ownership of the Command and Conquer IP. Having been one of the formative franchises in the genre in its vying for attention against Warcraft and then Starcraft, C&C used to be one of the grandfather franchises in the RTS genre, so it’s about time we got a return to form.

The last few main entries were consistently bettered by Blizzard’s efforts, and were pushed out increasingly quickly, resulting in titles which were regarded as increasingly poor in overall quality. Sure, plenty of the original developers are off making titles like Forge: Battalions at Petrogylph Studios, but a new Command and Conquer would be a great return to form.

The closest we've had to a reboot or continuation is a parred-down version of the original real-time format in the form of mobile app Command and Conquer: Rivals. Whilst it's promising to see EA building on an IP that we'd not seen anything from for the best part of a decade now, a slimmed down mobile-friendly game likely isn’t quite what fans were looking for.
