Titanfall 2: 10 Key Things It Needs To Get Right

A solid campaign and this could be incredible.

Titanfall was one of the most anticipated new first person shooters to come out for a while, and with great reason: The team behind the game that changed the genre itself, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, was making it under a new studio - Respawn Entertainment.

This was to be Respawn's first title, and they had a lot to prove and a lot to live up to. The first Titanfall had its flaws, there's no doubt about that. But even with those accounted for, Titanfall was one of the most enjoyable first person shooters in a long time. I personally think it's the best first person shooter to be released in years, and I'd play it over Call of Duty, Battlefield or Halo any day of the week. Even then, there's still plenty to improve on moving forward.

Later in 2016, we are going to get the second instalment. Now, at this time there is no set release date, but don't be surprised if it dropped sometime in the Fall - most likely right between Call of Duty and Battlefield.

E3 is coming up quick, and we will learn a lot more about this game during the event. For now, we must sit back and speculate what the game will be like. Wishing and wondering aside, here's the things that need to happen when it comes to Titanfall 2.

10. A Story Fans Can Actually Care About

Titanfall didn't have a story. It's that simple.

There was an attempt, a very small attempt, but it didn't work. The weak attempt at a "story" was a playlist where you would just play team deathmatch and domination with some story dialogue happening in the background. I can't tell you how many times I played that playlist, but it was a lot. I wouldn't be able to tell you a single thing about the story itself, though, other than the IMC and Militia were at war. Were the IMC or Militia the good guys? Who knows. The story was so bland and simply non-existent people often forget it even existed.

Titanfall 2 will feature a single player campaign, unlike the first, and this is where it needs to shine. The campaign cannot feel like an afterthought.

Make us care about the IMC and Militia, make us care about the war and get us emotionally invested in any number of characters. Hell, even tell us why they are fighting and what started the whole thing. Give us a little background on the Titans, why are they being used on the field and when did it start? Why are pilots so superior to every single person on the battlefield?

There are so many questions that could immensely expand the lore of this game, all they need to do is be explored.
