Top 10 Skyrim Quests

9. Innocence Lost

One of Skyrim€™s moodiest quests is undoubtedly the introduction to the Dark Brotherhood, Tamriel€™s ever present guild of assassins. You first hear rumours of a child named Aventus Arentino in Windhelm who€™s attempting in vain to summon the Dark Brotherhood. When you find the child, he€™s chanting the Black Sacrament €“ the ritual to summon the assassins €“ worryingly over a skeletal corpse. Because Skyrim doesn€™t have a child services, it€™s up to you to grant his request; namely to kill the cruel matron of the Orphanage that Aventus belongs to in Riften. This quest is so macabre because your main objective is to essentially snuff out the life of a helpless old woman; she may have been a mean old hag, but did she really deserve death? The answer to this question is invariably the answer to whether or not you belong in the Dark Brotherhood. It€™s a clever little notion, that€™s even more pointedly levelled at the taking of an €˜innocent€™ life than any of the previous Elder Scrolls titles.
