When playing through most of these HD remakes, it€™s easy to see just how quickly gaming as a whole has developed through the years. Jak and his fury friend Daxter hark back to the days when platform games were still king of the land. This collection contains the three original Jak and Daxter games developed by wonderful Naughty Dog before they went on to create the Uncharted series. This was before other developers moved in on the series, always instisting the pair were just friends even though they seemed to break up all the time. The three games on the disc are sufficiently different enough so that each title brings new ideas and content. The first, and arguably the best is Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, a truly great platformer with loveable characters and a funny script. The games creators took everything they learnt from making the Crash Bandicoot series and created a fun, colourful, well rounded platformer with two great lead characters. The second game is Jak II, with a moodier feel and an open world backdrop. The third game Jak 3, does a good job of combining the first two into a great end to the trilogy while adding some new idea of its own. The games look great and the transition to the higher resolution hasn€™t hurt them one bit. With their bright cartoony style, they look sharp and defined. Naughty Dog is a company that knows how to get the most of the hardware, and you might even forget that you€™re playing a PS2 game! The controls are easy to get on with as they aren€™t too complex, the games are platformer€™s after all. The gameplay is a little dated, but anyone buying this title would understand that they are looking into gamings past rather than anything cutting edge.
