"WWE Today"
This is an old version of 2K's NBA Today feature, but it's the best picture I could find. In a nutshell, the NBA Today feature is one where your game keeps up with the day to day games throughout the season; The user can play the real life schedule of games slated for any particular day. There is specific commentary that goes on in these games when you play them as well. For example, if you play as the Lakers against the Heat in a game that is happening that day, the commentators will talk about match-ups in that game, previous games, any real life injuries that the teams are having to deal with, top performers from the last time they squared off, etc. It really is amazing how this mode works. If I am not mistaken, in NBA 2K13, "NBA Today" also allows the dev team to update court art, uniforms and shoes into the game as well. An example of this is the Christmas Day uniforms that the teams wore on Christmas. The team updated the game soon after Christmas to have all of those uniforms. There are also constant uploads of shoes going into the game as they are introduced in real life. 2K's version of WWE Games can take advantage of this "today" feature as well (I'm assuming they would call it "WWE Today"). Referring to the image at the top of this page, the section on the right (where they have the games) would be the match card for the last TV program, with each individual "game" being one match. Whichever developer is responsible with keeping up with this can: add in the match stipulations; change superstar thread colors; add the managers involved (if any); change damage numbers like in story mode, when you can make a superstar start with lower health (would be relevant if superstar was attacked earlier in the show, like when team Hell No was attacked by The Shield before their match on a recent RAW); etc. One problem I see with this is what if there is a superstar on TV that night but is not in the game yet? My answer to that would be to let us import our own created/downloaded superstars into any match on the "WWE Today" card. The team would obviously have to work on commentary a ton if they were going to make commentary be a big part of the mode, like it is with NBA Today. If the developers could pull this off, I'm honestly not sure if I would even play any other mode. They could also add in different logos to use in Universe/Create modes as they become available in real life. Also, no idea if this would even be possible, but for PPV's they could also edit in the promo/hype video that shows before the match in real life, if there is one.
