After his spectacular 'firing' from Bullet Club over the weekend the world is seemingly the oyster of one Adam Cole... BAY BAY!

The three-time Ring Of Honor Champion is a free agent, with rumours of a move to NXT gathering pace. There's no doubting that anyone and everyone that knows of Cole will be excited by the prospect of the 27-year-old plying his trade inside the yellow ropes of WWE's developmental brand, but it looks like any swift transition has been put on hold - ending any chance of The One making a late burst to squeeze into WWE 2K18.

Cole was one of eight wrestlers announced to be taking part in the International Wrestling Cartel’s annual Super Indy tournament which is scheduled to take place in June, ruling out a full-time NXT run until well into the summer at the very least. He could do what Drew McIntyre recently did by appearing on NXT while being allowed to finish up his indie dates, but you can't help but think that no full-time run = no spot in 2K18 for Cole.

It seems an inevitability that Adam will become an NXT roster member sooner rather than later - and a very popular one at that - but it seems the timing of his arrival will cost him his chance to be in a WWE video game.

There's always next year though...
