Xbox One vs PS4: Which Should You Buy?

Entertainment

skypexboxone_r1_c1 This in one of the comparisons that has a clear winner, but how important it is to you as a console buyer will differ from user to user. Consoles are no longer just gaming systems. They are full blown entertainment hubs that can manage our gaming, television, music and film habits. Clearly, this is something Microsoft has taken to heart. The Xbox One has been designed to manage all your services as an all in one box, hence the name. It has a pretty robust system and if you are looking for a games console that can double up as the center for all your media, the Xbox is not a bad bet. Built with entertainment in mind, the Xbox One has extensive features to go along with your viewing. The system can multitask, so you can watch a TV show while juggling another app be it Skype, browsing or specific application for what you are watching. If you are a sports fan, than the Xbox will also offer a ton of on screen stats for you, and even allow you to manage and check in and manage your fantasy team as you watch the game. (It is worth noting that on launch, these features will be American centric and additional country support will follow later on.) The Xbox One is offering a smart TV experience for anyone without a Smart TV. If you are lucky enough to have a Smart TV hooked up to your gaming console then you may find the Xbox One only has minor advantages. The PlayStation 4 on the other hand is much like how our systems are now. A gaming console first, with entertainment peripherals. If you are just looking for a gaming device that also plays Netflix, the PlayStation 4 will be enough for you. Also, if the Xbox One's features prove to be a hit, it is not inconceivable that Sony will implement something similar in the future but that is all speculation. The question is are you happy with the entertainment services we see in this current generation, will you still be in 7-10 years and will you invest in another device that can do these types of features in the future? Smart television experiences are about to become wide spread across the world, and I am genuinely interested to see how more casual consumers embrace the Xbox One's capabilities.
