7 Bizarre Presidential Pets Who Lived At The White House

Cocks - fighting in the grounds of the White House!

Presidential Animals Gif Being President of the United States comes with many privileges. You get to fly around in Air Force One, you host stately dinners for dignitaries from around the world - and you also get to keep whichever pet you want at your grand First Family residence, the White House. A total of 44 Presidents have come and gone through the White House gates, with each of them bringing their own pets along with them. The 44th President Barack Obama has two pretty normal White House pets, keeping the tradition of the Commander-in-Chief having at least one dog at the First Home. Obama's two pet Portuguese water dogs are named Bo and Sunny. However, previous Presidents have not been so predictable in their choice of White House pet - with animals from all over the world gracing the grounds of the famous building just off Pennsylvania Avenue down the years. First Family pets include a herd of elephants, an aggressive badger, and an alligator who was kept in the bath - while one President even had his very own personal menagerie on White House grounds! Here are seven Presidents who kept a wide array of bizarre animals at the White House during their time in office.
