Famously taciturn in Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive, Ryan Gosling is anything but in his rock band Dead Man's Bones, which consists of him and fellow musician Zach Shields. Formed in 2007, Dead Man's Bones was founded on a love of ghoulish imagery and spectral tales. Their self-titled debut was released in October 2009 and features suitably spooky song titles, such as Dead Hearts, Buried In Water, My Body's A Zombie For You and Flowers Grow Out Of My Grave. Many of the album's 12 tracks feature choral vocals by the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir (which was founded by the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea) creating a haunting, ethereal sound. When touring in 2009, the band collaborated with various local children's choirs across America. Even more dedicated than that, the duo made the decision early on to play every instrument on the record themselves, even those they didn't have any experience with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRFeUc2KnBY
