7. Scarlett Johansson - The Singles
Unlike many of the bands mentioned so far, Scarlett Johansson's brand new group The Singles aren't interested in rock and roll. What they are interested in is pop music, specifically a genre known as Sugar-Pop. At present the band has only released one song, and boy is it sweet - lead single Candy celebrates love through the prism of confectionery, as Scarlett repeatedly croons "You're like candy to my heart". If you've seen Her then you'll know Scarlett Johansson has an amazing voice, her speech in Spike Jonze's masterpiece lilting in semi-hypnotic melody; the transition to singing, then, seems more than natural. Though relatively early in its conception, Johansson has cited bands such as Grimes, The Bangles and The Go-Go's as inspiration, and is eager to follow in their musical footsteps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lkCw7T911Y
