10 Awesome Classic House Music Tracks That Are Incredibly Preachy

10. Peyton - A Higher Place (2004)

London-based American soul singer Peyton brought this much remixed track to us in 2004 when he signed it to the hugely successful Hed Kandi label. Peyton started singing in the church as a youngster and this is reflected very strongly in this track and his music in general. It's an inspiring record that speaks of forgetting about all the bad things in life and moving on with a smile on your face. It features a strong piano and subtle church organ in the background to go with a pounding beat and funky bassline. Sadly, it became overplayed to death and has a bit of a cheesy pop feel to it, as far as house music fans are concerned, as a consequence. Still, it's a classic nonetheless. The gospel mix in the video was certainly the version most prominently heard in clubs. Sample lyrics:
Here's what you've gotta do, lift your head up high Move your body to the rhythms of the bluest sky Put this old world behind you where it belongs Close your eyes and come with me, let's sing a different song
