The first half of 2013 has been a pretty varied and interesting one for albums, with highlights coming from My Bloody Valentine, David Bowie, Justin Timberlake and She & Him. However, there are many more to come. This list features ten established bands or artists whose upcoming albums are eagerly anticipated; of course there will be successful debut albums too, but we have less evidence to base those releases on at this point.
Read on for ten of the most exciting albums soon to be released, and comment below if there are any you can’t wait for that I’ve forgotten…
10. Avenged Sevenfold – Hail To The King
The band’s first album without late drummer The Rev and their sixth altogether, Avenged Sevenfold are back with their accomplished heavy rock sound on Hail To The King. Vocalist M. Shadows has described the sound as “more blues rock-influenced and more like classic rock and classic metal like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin”, which is an intriguing combination seeing as they’re normally simply described as heavy rock/metal.
The band obviously expected anticipation to be high in the rock world, releasing four teasers of the recording process on YouTube, although we have still only heard the album’s titular single. However, since they’ve already sold over eight million albums globally, they’re doing pretty well and there’s nothing to say that Hail To The King will be any different.
Release date: 26 August
