10 Best Pop Punk Albums Of 2016

9. Taking Back Sunday - Tidal Wave

Taking Back Sunday are another alternative rock band labelled emo back in the day, many of which have now graduated to the broader label of pop punk. Tidal Wave is their seventh studio album, and it's arguably their most mature effort yet.

The vast majority of Tidal Wave was written in between tours for the band's last record Happiness Is. There's a maturity to the lyrics on Tidal Wave that's different than what they usually put out, and the instrumentation is tighter and more diverse than ever.

At the same time, the core of Taking Back Sunday remains, with their raw emotion bubbling beneath the surface, occasionally breaking brutally into the fore.

Tidal Wave shows off a nice throughout its twelve tracks, with tunes like Fences and Call Come Running being refreshingly catchy.
