10 Greatest Hard Rock Debut Albums

8. The Darkness – Permission To Land

Breaking the mold of what was expected of a hard rock band, The Darkness released their hit debut album Permission To Land in 2003 and brought glam rock to the modern age.

Sporting the amazing vocal range of Justin Hawkins, Permission To Land offered several radio-friendly hits, including I Believe In A Thing Called Love, and Love Is Only A Feeling. The album also features some criminally underrated songs in the form of Black Shuck and Get Your Hands Off My Woman.

The success of the album and it’s singles eventually gained The Darkness a prestigious spot headlining the Reading festival, and the record has since gained cult status, which is all the more satisfying when you consider that this was, at its core, a comedy record.
