10 Greatest Hip Hop Producers Of All Time

9. Q-Tip

When most people think of Q-Tip, they usually see him as one of the most talented and diverse MC's of all time and a key member of A Tribe Called Quest. However, his skills as a producer are just as good, if not better, than his talents as a rapper.

Obviously his work alongside Ali Shaheed Muhammad for the A Tribe Called Quest albums goes without saying, as the New Yorker helped produce the group's greatest hits, plus he's worked with a whole host of other of artists outside of the group including Kanye West, Nas and Mobb Deep to name just a few

Much like many of his peers from New York, who took their samples from old records, Tip's production focused heavily on drums, bass lines and was extremely influenced by jazz. However, if you want a closer look at how he created some of his finest work, check out the documentary Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest and you'll see how fantastic his method of production truly is.
