9. Exmilitary - Death Grips
Experimental rap group Death Grips have been an influence to new artists, and established acts like David Bowie and Kanye West. The act consists of only three musicians originating from Sacramento, California.
They released their debut mixtape Exmilitary in 2011. Distributed for free through their website, this release was a platform for a fruitful career in industrial hip-hop.
The album was made available on iTunes later in the year, but is unavailable to stream to this day. Samples which range from Black Flag to Beastie Boys prevent an official streaming release, like with many mixtapes of the genre.
Only the second track Guillotine is available to stream, and is one of Death Grips' most recognised songs. The band still perform Exmilitary songs occasionally on tour.
