10 Most Anticipated Metal Albums Of 2018

1. Behemoth – TBA

At time of writing, Poland’s unstoppable black/death metal mavens Behemoth are currently recording their eleventh album with producer Daniel Bergstrand in Monochrom Studios.

The record, which singer/guitarist Adam “Nergal” Darski has stated that he hopes to release in “autumn 2018”, will be the follow-up to 2014’s magnum opus The Satanist, which is already being heralded as one of the finest metal albums of the 21st century.

The album was truly a perfect exercise in how an extreme disc should play out: it fused countless heavy sub-genres to craft a diverse yet focused ride. Just how Behemoth will top what many agree to be their finest moment remains a mystery, but Nergal seems confident his group can pull it off (although, to be honest, we’d all be terrified if he wasn’t).

The frontman has gone on record saying that the band has “ten to thirteen” songs ready, one of which can be partially heard above in a live snippet taken from Nergal’s Instagram account. He’s also said that his time in his side-project Me and That Man made him hungrier than ever for “radical sounds”, hoping for them to be “redefining and rejuvenating” for Behemoth.

I don’t know about you but, for me, that sounds pretty exciting.

Roll on 2018!
