10 Most Drug-Fuelled Rock Stars In Music History

Sometimes you can't even HAVE sex and rock 'n' roll without the drugs.

It goes without saying that the image of the rock star is often one of a wild, hedonistic renegade, pumped full of drugs and sleeping with hundreds of women over course of their career. For fans of their music there's almost something oddly romantic about this image, as if it represents a pure expression of rebellion from the norm. While the reality is that more often than not, the 'bad boy' images of rock stars are carefully cultivated public relations exercises - music, after all, is as much about the image as the songs themselves - there have been a few genuinely legendary rock stars for whom taking copious amounts of drugs is as second nature to them as breathing. When it comes to the kind of drugs these rock stars loved to smoke, chew, swallow and snort, for the most part it seems as if anything goes. Everything from gallons of vodka to mountains of cocaine and syringe upon syringe of heroin has been thrown into the mix, forming a concoction which, inevitably, has led to more than a few untimely deaths. Some legendary drug-fuelled rock stars have survived to tell the tale and are still on tour today, albeit somewhat lacking in the energy and vitality of their former days. Others have earned a place in the unfortunate 27 Club, dead before their prime. Here are 10 of the most drug-fuelled rock stars in the history of music.
