Many tracks can claim to be the 'Song of the Summer' for 2017. 'Despacito' by Luis Fonsi has a good shout, Charli XCX's 'Boys' can stake a claim or literally anything by Ed Sheeran. But none of them are 'Owning Your Okayness' by Milk Teeth so therefore they're all wrong.
The missing link we didn't know was missing between Nirvana and pre-Warning Green Day, the Stroud-based four-piece have exploded their way onto the scene with their catchy hooks, excellent songwriting and their ability to make the best parts of the 90s sound fresh and new. Their blending of grunge, punk and indie from their Smiling Politely EP and Sad Sack EP culminated in 2016's Vile Child, the freshest-sounding homage to the past that shot up everyone's end of year lists.
It could be argued though that their best work could be found in the pair of 2017 EPs Be Nice and Go Away. With vocalist Becky Blomfield stepping into a more central role following the departure of fellow vocalist Josh Bannister, having a much more commanding presence on these releases, offering a clean yet powerful voice, supported by new secondary vocalist Billy Hutton.
