10 New Wave Of British Heavy Metal Bands That Are Better Than Ever

10. Tank

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkyoMjOJsng Classic Album You Should Own: Filth Hounds Of Hades (1982), an utterly essential hybrid of Punk & Metal and a precursor to the Speed Metal that would dominate for much of the 1980's.Recommended Modern Album: War Nation (2012). The speed of old may be gone but in its place stands an album as heavy as a 30 Tonne Sherman. Beginning life as a formidable power-trio, Tank blew the competition to pieces in the early 80's, their 1982 debut Filth Hounds of Hades taking no prisoners with its Punk-Metal attack which rivalled Motörhead and Venom for passion, power and intensity. Fronted by Algy Ward (Bassist/Vocalist), the trio recorded three classic NWOBHM records between 1982 and 1983 (Filth Hounds/Power Of The Hunter/This Means War) but this line-up was to be short lived. In came Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans (Guitars) and a revolving-door of drummers but a decline in fortune led Tank to call for a ceasefire after 1987's self-titled album, cooling their engine's for 15 long years. In 2002 they returned with their Still at War album but here is where it gets complicated. In 2007, both Algy Ward and Mick Tucker/Cliff Evans went their separate ways but both sides decided to keep making music under the 'Tank' moniker. Both 'Tanks'(!) have much to offer but it is the tucker/Evans incarnation being championed here. A modern, Hard Rock sound replaces the Punk-Metal of old (that style has been left to the Algy Ward version of the band) with ex-Rainbow vocalist Doogie White handling the ground-levelling vocals and giving the band a sleek, precision-engineered sound perfect for today's Rock Radio. Tank may have splintered over the years, casualties of their own civil war, but the band in its Tucker/Evans guise is a band with the muscle to fight the good fight for many years to come; for them the battle is not yet over!

I love Heavy Metal, and generally anything that involves a guitar and loud noises, so I figured it was about time I put all the useless information in my head to good use and start writing a few things. Most of the time I'll be writing nonsense but occasionally I may surprise myself and appear half-way knowledgable.....but you can be the judge of that. Thanks for your fleeting attention!
