10 One-Hit Wonder Bands From The 90s That Still Rock

Is it really any wonder?

Most musicians only get one chance to shine. Whether it€™s because their first single set false expectations or because the world quickly moved on from the sound that made them popular, some bands just aren€™t meant to climb the charts more than once. And of all the periods in music, the 90s were possibly the worst, most fickle time to be labeled a one-hit wonder. It was a time when "The Macarena" ruled the airwaves, after all. Novelty acts cropped up by the handfuls, often overshadowing and sidelining some very talented acts that might have went on to long, prosperous careers in a different environment. Instead, legitimate musicians were pushed aside by the likes of "Barbie Girl," which has to be both frustrating and a little demoralising. The epilogue for these artists are many and varied. Some take their big payouts and break up almost immediately, their songs remembered only as an answer in Trivial Pursuit. Others pop in and out of the spotlight, briefly reuniting whenever the world has a fit of nostalgia. There are a certain few, however, who put out solid album after solid album, touring to a small but relentlessly fanatical group of fans. Though they€™ll probably never shake the €œone-hit wonder€ label, these bands have more to offer than their original fifteen minutes of fame allowed.
