Having read this article on What Culture about "
10 Phenomenal Guitarists That Deserve Your Attention", which is a brilliant list and the guitarists on it are all phenomenal, I couldn't help but notice that it is the definition of a sausage-fest. This is not uncommon for lists of great guitarists, or lists of great musicians full-stop. I could go on and on about how female guitarists are often overlooked despite being pretty goddamned incredible, but I won't, because if you don't know that already then you can leave. Instead I invite you to feast your eyes and ears on ten more phenomenal guitarists who deserve your attention (not just) in 2013, that happen to be women. I have to admit that there are a lot of lady guitarists that often get overlooked, yet regrettably didn't make the cut here. I've tried to keep this list modern (with two exceptions), so I'm afraid you won't see oft-neglected greats like Lita Ford or Memphis Minnie. I've also tried to steer away from cover artists, so I'm afraid none of The Iron Maidens, phenomenal that they are, appear either. Let me know if I've missed anyone special!
