10 Terrible Songs That Ruined Otherwise Flawless Albums

10. Pixies €“ La La Love You (Doolittle)

https://youtu.be/vnx3lzPIZ6U Isn€™t there a rule that has been ratified into law by now regarding drummers "having a go" at singing? David Lovering hardly sings on the track at all, but in between the annoying whistling, the needling repetition of €œI love you,€ and the phrase €œshake your butt, but not too hard!€ he manages to hold his own as a pesky presence on this too-sugary-for-its-own-good track. Had this been released several years later, it might have been forgiven as some sort of ironic love song (irony being a favorite excuse of indie rock bands), but the uncharacteristically earnest Pixies song collapses under it€™s own half-hearted aesthetic. Doolittle has the pop inertia of a freight train leading up to track ten, so it makes sense that Pixies would veer too far into bubblegum territory. While "Here Comes Your Man" pulls off its musical and lyrical simplicity, "La La Love You" is so bogged down by keeping it simple that it is falling apart from the very beginning.
