Naming Britney Spears as her most important musical icon, Marina stumbled upon the singer when her mum finally got cable television. Diamandis discovered the video for Oops!...I Did It Again, and was inspired by Spears' talents. Coincidentally, Marina managed to meet Britney Spears this week, after one of Spearss residency shows in Las Vegas. While the whole thing only happened over a space of 15 seconds, Marina describes to Nylon Magazine that she felt Dizzy and nauseous". Diamandis describes Spears as shy, and speaks with the faintest regret that the circumstances were so artificial. She admits: Its awkward - it would be different if she knew my music, and we were meeting as artists, you know? Fingers crossed that someone sends Britney a Marina and the Diamonds album quick time, in order to unite the two.
