10 Things You Didn't Know About Sam Smith

"I used to yearn to fall in love. My fans have filled that hole"

Appealing to everyone from your local shopkeeper to your mum and dad, singer Sam Smith's powerful crooning voice is suddenly playing on just about every radio station right now. Except maybe Country FM. Born in London in 1992, the singer launched his vocal career when he featured on Disclosure's 2012 track Latch, and has gone from success to success since then. He released his first single Stay With Me shortly after his Disclosure collaboration, and released his first album In The Lonely Hour in 2014; for which he won four Grammys, including Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. 2015 has only seen further success for the singer, who performed at this year's Brit Awards and won British Breakthrough Act and Global Success Award. He also took away Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album at this year's Grammys. He's collaborated with the likes of John Legend, Mary J Blige and Naughty Boy, and it seems that only more good fortune is in store for the young artist. Well done you, Sam. So we all know a whole lot about Sam Smith's music. But what about Sam Smith as a person? Here are ten facts for you to learn today.
