My Chemical Romance were an alternative rock band formed in New Jersey in 2001. For many fans, the word were an acknowledgement that the band has ceased to be is still extremely painful. Throughout My Chemical Romance's career fans stuck together through thick and thin, defending the band and its music passionately while enjoying some of rock and roll's most infectious tunes.
After four albums in the space of a decade, things seemed to be going well, but everything changed on 22nd March 2013 when a single paragraph on the band's website informed readers of the dissolution of the group it was all over. Fans were understandably distraught. For over a year the group had been working on the follow-up to 2010's Danger Days, and then suddenly they were gone. Yet even now fans remain loyal and committed to the band, championing what My Chemical Romance represents despite it not existing. As front man Gerard Way said not long after the breakup:
My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too. Because it is not a band. It is an idea.
And just because the band is over doesn't mean fans don't face the same old problems...
