15 Best Heavy Metal Songs Of 2016 (So Far)

14. Babymetal - KARATE

Who could of predicted that three young girls from Japan could have the metal community quaking in their boots, clamouring for their nearest fix of... whatever the hell Babymetal are.

Their sophomore album release this year entitled Metal Resistance saw the three-piece venture further into their metal side, hitting a peak on the annoyingly infectious single 'KARATE'.

If you can appreciate the bizarre combination of heavy music mixed with adorable vocals, then there's a lot to like here. One of the song's greatest strengths is in the vocal performances themselves, while the pop production sheen does nothing to dampen the almost djent-like instrumental underneath it.

Most of all this track is just simply a lot of fun, and your enjoyment of it will largely depend on your own musical stance. You will either see this as the ultimate slap in the face to the metal genre, or one of the most bold and daring metal songs of 2016. I say it's the latter.
