15 Best Rock Songs About Growing Up

14. Superman - Goldfinger

While this tune by ska band Goldfinger sounds rather happy and upbeat on the surface, analyzing the lyrics tells a bit of a different story. This is a song that details someone who is constantly growing and changing, yet has no idea what he's doing with his life. To counteract this, he puts on a facade of someone who has everything together; a "Superman" if you will.

He goes onto detail how deeply he worries for himself as the years go by. However, it seems that some are able see through his mask and call him out for not having his life in order. Resenting this, the narrator states that he will continue to do things his way. Not out of stubbornness, but rather because he understands that he alone should carve his own path, and to truly get his life in order, he needs to figure things out for himself.

However, listening to this vibrant, catchy tune is enough to help you think everything will be okay, thanks to the combination of lively horns and drum patterns. And there's a delicious contrast with the slower vocals at the end.
