14. There's Always Someone That Says "He's Just Screaming"
All Slipknot fans that have ever tried to share their favourite band with anyone that isn't into metal will have heard them utter that phrase in relation to Corey's roaring vocals: "I don't like it! He's just screaming!" While Corey's natural singing voice is undoubtedly melodic and often beautiful, his "cookie monster" voice is far more extreme. It's perhaps that element of Slipknot's sound that most isolates the casual listener. But true fans of the band know that it is the extreme nature of their sound that makes them so unique. Of course there are heavier or more aggressive bands out there - but none that have achieved the same degree of recognition as Slipknot. Unfortunately, that exposure is what has resulted in Maggots having to explain the screaming that is a key part of their sound to an audience that isn't used to such an aggressive musical style.
