20 Best Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Guitar Riffs Of 2016

17. Wolf Hoffmann - "Symphony No. 40"

Accept guitarist Wolf Hoffmann's new solo album, Headbanger's Symphony, could well be one of the most underrated records of 2016.

Taking timeless compositions by classical masters like Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Bach and Beethoven and adapting them into expertly crafted metal pieces, the record is an absolute must for anyone that's into big, epic-sounding riffs and symphonic backing.

And as many kick-ass riffs as this record provides, the best may well be Hoffmann's take on Mozart's "Symphony No. 40" (aka your ringtone if you owned a mobile phone in the early 2000s).

Building with electric chords and enticing cellos, the song soon dissolves into a "Master of Puppets"-esque guitar piece that all metalheads and classical connoisseurs must hear.
