20 Best Metal Albums Of 2017 (So Far)

14. Obituary - Obituary

The second (but definitely not the last) traditional death metal band to show up on this list, Florida's Obituary has been at the forefront of their genre for nearly thirty years. And the sheer brutality of their brand new self-titled album demonstrates precisely why.

Jam-packed with brutal guitars, harrowing roars and basic yet intense rhythms, Obituary captures lightning in a bottle by fantastically recreating the original Floridian metal landscape.

Out of all the aggressive pleasures it offers, it primarily delights in its existence as a polished time capsule to the roots of American extreme metal.
