20 Greatest Empowering Break-Up Songs

18. Shut Up And Let Me Go - The Ting Tings

The History: Off of their debut album We Started Nothing, €œShut Up and Let Me Go€ was the follow up to their single €œThat's Not My Name€ in the UK. It peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs. It was also featured in an Apple iPod commercial, Gossip Girl, The House Bunny, and Royal Pains.

Why It's Great: Every once in a while there comes a break up where you're not mad or upset, you're just completely over it. €œShut Up and Let Me Go€ is your anthem. It talks about a guy who's apparently over his girl, and the girl has decided she's sick of this whole scenario.

This whole song is basically telling him to shove off, and the bluntness of the song is wonderful. It's also terribly catchy. I dare you to listen to it, and if you're not singing it at work the next day, I personally owe you a pint.
