20 Greatest Rock And Metal Debut Albums Of All Time

20. Boston - Boston

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ecWtfAaR18 Track List: 1. More Than a Feeling 2. Peace of Mind 3. Foreplay/Long Time 4. Rock & Roll Band 5. Smokin' 6. Hitch a Ride 7. Something About You 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight Boston hit the ground positively sprinting when they released their eponymous debut in 1976. This was an album which instantly stood out from the pack, being sonically epic and brimming with lush harmonies, powerhouse riffs all backed by a pristine production job masterminded by guitarist and chief songwriter Tom Scholz. Few albums had sounded this clear, controlled and precise and yet not in anyway clinical. Boston simply had the courage to seek absolute perfection, arriving at a sound best described as 'pop rock'; radio-friendly and yet completely accessible to even the most hardened, hard-to-please rock fan. Selling records was never anything to be ashamed of and Boston's world-conquering aspirations paid off handsomely, sales were instantly strong but went on to surpass all expectations, breaking records and becoming one of the best-selling debut albums of all time (it's actually the second best-selling debut album of all time in the United States surpassed only by Guns N' Roses' Appetite for Destruction, more on that album later). "More than a Feeling" may be the most recognisable song on the album, featuring on every rock compilation since the dawn of time, but "Peace of Mind" and "Foreplay/Long Time" are equally as accomplished. Boston's debut is essential 70's rock; ostentatious and flamboyant.

I love Heavy Metal, and generally anything that involves a guitar and loud noises, so I figured it was about time I put all the useless information in my head to good use and start writing a few things. Most of the time I'll be writing nonsense but occasionally I may surprise myself and appear half-way knowledgable.....but you can be the judge of that. Thanks for your fleeting attention!
