20 Hip Hop Albums You Must Hear Before You Die

18. Killer Mike - R.A.P Music

Killer Mike Rap Music
Williams Street Records

When people heard that southern rap legend Killer Mike and New York underground rap king El-P were collaborating on an album, it seemed like there was a lot head scratching yet curiosity among hip hop fans. Mike with his powerful punchlines and constantly changing flow and El-P with his weird, trippy beats that sound as if they come from a different dimension. How was that going to work?

Well, forgive us Killer Mike and El-P, none of us knew you two would create R.A.P Music, one of the best albums of the 2010's. We just didn't know. Somehow the two managed to get the best out of each other, crafting an incredibly cohesive concept album talking on a number of political subjects, especially the Ronald Reagan inspired track 'Reagan'. Mike does some of his very best work on this record and shows why he's so well respected by many of his peers.
