5 Best Lana Del Rey Remixes

5. Blue Jeans (RAC Remix)

No no, this isn't the orange clad chaps that make their way to broken down cars strewn across the M25, this remix is by the aptly named Remix Artist Collective. Making high quality remixes is their thing and they are damn good at it. Whether it's Bob Marley or Two Door Cinema Club, these guys aren't afraid to give it a good old crack and it was only a matter of time until they dabbled in re-working Lana's music. The original, a song that emits bundles of emotion and jam-packed with all sorts of instruments, has been given an up-tempo revamp, with a pacing beat that carries the tune along with such speed that even the sluggish vocals appear to be given a modernistic and almost hipster overhaul. A brilliant piano melody carries the song along, accompanied by a myriad of electronic synths that instantly make this a dancehall hit.

4. Young And Beautiful (Cedric Gervais Remix)

I'll quickly confess that I haven't yet seen The Great Gatsby, but I am by no means a stranger to the eclectic soundtrack pieced together by Baz Luhrmann, quite frankly a marvel of modern music. Once again, the original version of the song is quintessentially Lana; slow-paced, tubular bells, perfectly produced vocals with that haunting hint of echo that resonates the purity of her voice...all in all, not a bad song at all, but not something you could necessarily enjoy whilst on a run or in the gym. So, here comes Cedric Gervais to the rescue, a French DJ who is slowly building himself quite a reputation in the world of electronic dance music. Retaining most of the atmosphere so encapsulated within the original, the vocals are used to build-up to a majestic and melodic drop, in which Gervais uses a bouncy melody, accompanied by staccato rhythm to completely transform the original into a rousing club banger!

3. Video Games (Club Clique For The Bad Girls Remix)

I shan't lie to you dear reader, but I can't stand the original version of Video Games. I shan't bore you with the reasons why, but it quite simply isn't my cup of tea. And we shall leave it at that. Now, whilst scouring the web for remixes of this particular song, I stumbled across something so simply brilliant it brought a smug grin to my face. Who knew that a minimal drum beat and a few chords on an electric guitar could add such a sparkle to the somewhat bleak and barren original version of the song? Club Clique, a scintillatingly exciting DJ duo from Manchester, admitted that they "stripped it down and rebuilt it for the Club Clique dancefloor, with fingerclicks, disco strings and glittering pop magic." And make magic they did, producing a toe-tapping remix ideal for the summer sunshine.

2. National Anthem (Cashmere Cat Remix)

Magnus August Høiberg, or Cashmere Cat, is the Norwegian producer responsible for this psychedelic, vibey re-working of the National Anthem. About as distant from the original as you could get, Magnus uses a plethora of electronic synths that somehow manage to slow down the already dawdling pace of its paradigm. Minimalism balanced with sublime production makes this a one-of-a-kind remix, with exquisitely re-worked vocals throughout the entire track on-top of a steady drum beat. Words hardly do justice to this sensational remix, and it leaves me to implore you to hear it for yourself and let yourself be carried away into another realm of tranquility and euphoria.

1. Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix)

Yes, OK, I've already featured a Cedric Gervais remix in this list, but one simply can't deny that this remix is a work of art. One of the few songs I can actually bear to endure, Summertime Sadness has been given the once over in magnificent fashion. Played at music festivals around the world, the amazing coalition of Lana's vocals on-top of the most rousing melody Cedric Gervais has produced to date, makes this remix my favorite by far. The fleeting moment of silence before the euphoric drop is enough to make anybody get up and dance. A pacing and vacillating melody underneath the louder synths and vocals add even more of an upbeat edge to the track, making the remix not only an enjoyable audible experience for its audience, but making the entire song a journey. The sadness that Lana sings about is nowhere to be seen here, and I for one feel nothing but euphoria every single time I have the pleasure of hearing this majestic tune.
