5 Terrible Lyrics In Otherwise Awesome Songs

def leppard Isn't it a crying shame when you hear such a great song with wonderful words that are just so well written, or perhaps, mean a lot to you, then, something bad happens. "Did he really just say that? Surely not!" Perfection tarnished by some amateurish, goofy or just downright, silly lyrics. It happens, I'm afraid. In this article, we look at some prime examples of the above scenario. Let's have a giggle...

5. Overkill - 'I Hate'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdD9tw7PejQ "I hate your rules I hate 'em all Hate being marked to take the fall Planet's not big enough for me and you But most of all I hate you..." New York Thrash metal legends, Overkill, released an absolute cracker of an album in 1989's 'The Years Of Decay', but it wasn't without its lyrical misfire, or two. On track three. 'I Hate', they deliver words that seem more fitting for some third rate, self pitying, adolescent Nu-Metal band. Hating rules, your job, been talked down to and two faced people, are all legitimate reasons enough to be pissed, but there really is better ways to express that, isn't there? To be fair, Overkill never proclaimed to be overly smart and sophisticated anyway, and their music is awesome enough to excuse the odd dodgy paragraph or two. The album has sold over 4 million copies worldwide, so I don't think this particular song's clumsy lyrical approach harmed them that much.

Live and work in Aberdeen, Scotland...unfortunately. Sang in My Minds Weapon (Basick/Drakkar/Sony) for ten years (2002 - 2012) and now just tinkering with various other projects. Die hard Leeds United fan. Metalhead in my heart but also love many other genres of music. Also enjoy anything with Christopher Walken or David Caruso. Family live in Perth, Australia, so have been there many times. Best place in the world.
