David Bowie's career was phenomenal, celebrated for its unparalleled diversity and continuous relevance decade after decade. During the course of his life, Bowie released a jaw-dropping twenty-seven studio albums (many of which are considered classics) and wrote some of the most popular, influential songs of all time. Put simply, the man was an enigma, someone seemingly impossible to truly figure out. In many ways this was perpetuated by his repeated musical reinventions, and the fact he often hid behind various incredibly distinct characters and personas, from Ziggy Stardust to Pierrot The Clown. The man was also incredibly private about his personal life, admirably choosing to frequently shun television and the media in order to stay grounded and enjoy living with his family. Campaigns to have him recognised with a knighthood completely forgetting that, after arguing he'd done nothing to deserve one, he'd already turned that particular honour down. Combined with his legendary status, Bowie is seen by many as a mystery, and the release of his deliberately symbolic and metaphor-laden final album has only increased the sentiment.
