The music industry is a fickle mistress. One month a band might be on top of the world, the next it may have largely been forgotten. Popularity and trends dominate the industry, plucking certain bands and musicians from the sea of struggling artists and casting them into the mainstream €“ but only for as long as they're deemed relevant. Though it's difficult to believe, it's now been over a decade and a half since the beginning of the 2000s. Given how a year is practically an eternity in the music industry, it's understandable how much can change in more than a decade. Yet even though the industry likes to forget, humans are quite fond of remembering, appreciating the value of nostalgia. With so much music being made at any one time, forgetting certain artists is inevitable, even when they're genuinely great. What's often even more surprising is that many of these artists continue to make music long after the mainstream discards them, releasing albums and singles and continuing to do what they love.
