8 Hottest Rappers In The World Right Now

Tinie Tempah

Rap music has, over the last couple of decades, been pretty much the hottest topic in music (if you exclude the brief blip in time where everyone was obsessed with dubstep, but that, friends, is neither here nor there). Whether you love it, hate it or sit firmly on the fence, it's nigh on impossible to avoid it in today's culture, and the fact of the matter is that now, it's pretty much taken over the entire world and there is little to nothing anyone can do about it. Despite all the controversy it's caused over the years - the lawsuits, the sexualisation of basically everything ever and of course, the complete bewilderment of pensioners the world over - you'd be a fool to deny that rap music is an art. It requires a level of familiarity with your material far beyond the standard manufactured nonsense churned out constantly by a depressing proportion of 'artists', for starters. It's also renowned to be the most brutally honest and unforgiving form of music - it's inherently more aggressive than some of the more light-hearted, chart-friendly genres we're all too familiar with, but nothing conveys real pain and life experience than shouting all of the words in a short space of time to a really grimy beat, does it? This decade has seen the arrival of some incredible new talents in the rap and hip-hop scene, so our question for today is: do they match up to the rappers we've all come to know and (potentially) love over the last 10 to 20 years? Well, fear not, because we're here to tell you. Flip the page to begin our countdown of arguably the 8 most celebrated rappers kicking about right now.
