The Beatles: Their Top 40 Tracks

When people ask what the most influential band of all time was, what do you usually answer? The Rolling Stones? The Velvet Underground? In my books, it's always been The Beatles. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr are arguably four of the most respected names in music, and 43 years after the release of their final album, their legacy is as strong as it ever was. You'll be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't heard 'Yesterday', 'Hey Jude' and 'Eleanor Rigby,' after all. The Beatles legacy knows no limits, of course, what with their influence stretching to acts such as Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins, and even acts like The Chemical Brothers - not to mention the entire Britpop movement. Here I've attempted to come up with a list of what I believe to the quintessential top 40 Beatles tracks, ranging from their early tracks right through to their final days. Each track has left its mark, and we can see the kind of effect that each one has had on music in general since its release. So, without further ado...
