Yesterday the internet was awash with rumours that a sex tape involving pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen had leaked to the internet, thanks to Gossip blogger extraordinaire Perez Hilton who started the rumour by posting grainy images taken from the offending video that supposedly depicted the ‘Call Me Maybe’ singer topless and involved in an intimate act while listening to Katy Perry and Kanye West’s ET.

In his usual fashion Hilton posted the screengrabs, one of which you can see below, with someof his own colourful comments:

You have to admit the girl in the video does bear remarkable resemblance to Jepsen, but that might well simply because of the poor clarity of the shots. Anyway, it turns out today – somewhat unsurprisingly – that his accusations were false however, as the singer took to Twitter to rubbish the reports and pour scourn on those who believed that the lookalike in the video was actually her:

This isn’t the first time the singer has found herself in the middle of sordid claims, after she was previously forced to deny that a set of supposedly leaked naked photos of a girl with pierced nipples was her.At the time the 26-year-old’s spokesperson told gossip website TMZ: “This is 200 per cent NOT Carly,” before it emerged that the subject of the photos was in fact 21-year-old “Internet model” Destiny Benedict.

Jepsen has been one of the musical hits of the year, thanks to the mega-success of “Call Me Maybe”, which reached the number one spot in 20 major countries, and continuing in heavy rotation on radio playlists long after release.

She has also now confirmed that her collaboration with fellow pop sensation Justin Bieber will feature on her upcoming debut studio album along with  songs featuring LMFAO and Owl City, and a track recorded with Fun guitarist Jack Antonoff.
