GRAMMY Awards 2013: Preview And Predictions

Record of the Year

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv6dMFF_yts Literally the song of the year. Yes, different (but exactly the same) as Song of the Year. Whoever wins this takes the cake. The Black Keys - Lonely Boy: It's great to see an alternative band in this category. The catchy song and even better music video brought a great gritty sound and it showed in popularity this past year. Kelly Clarkson - Stronger: Since she has come on the scene after winning the first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson has really cornered the market on "girl with serious guy problems". Stronger shows that she still has what it takes to be in the running for Record of the Year and the best pop sad song singer around. Fun. - We Are Young: This incredibly addictive song has taken over our radio stations and most captions for Instagram pictures for the past year. Debuted during the last Super Bowl, this multi-layered single has the ability to take the cake this year. Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know: Just like We Are Young, this song has an infectious melody that doesn't like leaving your mind once it's there. This song takes a more sad approach to the catchy song area though. With a stimulating, body paint induced music video and being remixed to death, we might be seeing Gotye up on the stage accepting Record of the Year. Frank Ocean - Thinkin Bout You: Frank Ocean and his debut album Channel Orange came on the scene in 2012 in a big way. An R&B song with an upbeat tempo about lovers' turmoil draws many listeners to this song (Rolling Stone named Thinkin Bout You the 4th Best Song of 2012) and puts it into the running for the best record from this past year. Taylor Swift - We Are Never Getting Back Together: The new electronic bubblegum-pop single from Swift delivers exactly what we expected out of a fun summer release. Her sad yet upbeat song about moving on from a past relationship stole our hearts and the top of most music charts for quite some time. The real fun is trying to figure out which celeb relationship she singing about. Ms. Swift has my pick for Record of the Year.
