Grammy Awards 2016: Predicting The Winners

Who should receive a golden gramophone?

This Monday, the 58th Annual Grammy Awards will emanate from the Staples Center, Los Angeles. The most prestigious of all of the annual music ceremonies; the Grammys celebrate and recognise outstanding achievements in the music industry over the course of the year. Last year's event was memorable because Kanye West did another, well, "Kanye", by leaping on stage to interrupt Beck winning the Grammy for Album of the Year. Luckily for Beck, Kanye quickly and quietly rescinded, probably realising that a Taylor Swift part two incident wouldn't go down well in front of his peers. British singer, Sam Smith would also walk away with the most golden gramophones, closely followed by Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams. The 2016 ceremony will see performances from the likes of Adele, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd; it is also confirmed that David Bowie, Lemmy and Lionel Richie will all be honoured and celebrated for their musical legacies. Kendrick Lamar leads the nomination pack with eleven nods - one nomination short of Michale Jackson's 1984 record of 12. Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and producer, Max Martin follow behind the rapper. 2015 was a great year for the music business, and although over 80 awards will be handed out over the course of the ceremony, we're going to narrow our gaze to ten of the major award categories. It's time to predict which musical stars will be carrying home a golden gift of greatness.
