Kids In Glass Houses - Live Review

Kids In Glass Houses

rating: 4

First time Kids In Glass Houses have been in London in two years apparently. So how did the Welsh wonders get on? Playing at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London, KIGH had a relatively large venue to fill. With a 2,000 body capacity and previously being a venue for international acts including U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Smiths, the Electric Ballroom is one of London's more intimate and recognised music venues. With fairly big stage with very impressive lighting and sound quality, I think it would take something spectacular not to be excited. With support from Cartel and Propellers, KIGH had big shoes to fill after those acts. Walking onto the stage with the soundtrack from Breaking Bad, came such energy not only from the band, but also the audience with the anticipation that something epic was suddenly about to go down. Opening with their new single 'Peace', gave an instant and loud feeling of what the rest of the night and album will be like. It may even be better. Playing a whopping 17 tracks throughout the night, some old and some new was definitely a treat for all fans. Playing popular all time favourites from their first album 'Smart Casual' including 'Fisticuffs' and 'Easy Tiger' seemed fit as it was this album that set them on their way to be here, playing songs from their now released 4th album. KIGH Always know how to put on a performance. Theres always that one expectation with this band to not only hear the music, but also see and feel the music. Something which is missed from low-key acoustic bands however is dripping head to toe from these guys. Such energy and charisma you can't help but find your lips moving singing along to the song you love or clapping in time with the song. All in all? Excellent band, amazing night. Here obviously on tour promoting their new album 'Peace' which was released only on the 30th of September however there didn't seem seem to be an ounce of work for anybody involved on this night. That is how any night out should be.
