With the hope that the Xmas cheer is plentiful and shared around, it's time to raise a glass or twelve, to some of the best albums of the year that deserve your attention across the holiday season.

Alice In Chains As the year rounds the bend and screams through the final straight, we can reflect on all the best that media has give us over the last 12 months. From movies like Gravity and American Hustle being bandied around the Best of Film lists, and The Last of Us and Gone Home topping many a gamer's list (including this one), it's about time to shine the light on some other perhaps lesser-known albums that should get their due. Now this is not a list of no-name underground artists who even Sherlock Holmes would struggle to detect should the need arise, instead this is a celebration of the albums that defined the year for me, and not one of them (well maybe just one) is anything close to a mainstream radio-friendly piece of work.
