Top 5 Albums By KISS

KISS Alive 40 years old and still going strong, KISS remains one of the world's most popular concert draws. Now, I have to declare an interest at this point. I am a massive fan. My life changed when I heard KISS for the first time and I became a professional musician because I wanted to be just like them. I've got all of their albums - some of them several times over. I've been to see them loads of times in concert. I also bought two sets of their limited edition Todd McFarlane action figures: one set to recreate memorable shows on the coffee table in my lounge, the other to remain in their boxes for my extended family to squabble over when I shuffle off this mortal coil. I'm aware just how sad that looks written down, but I don't care. KISS is so awesome you don't even have to like their music to be blown away by their total epicosity. Superheroes who are also a rock band. How immense is that? There are those who suggest the band itself only exists as an exercise in total spectrum marketing, or that the whole KISS schtick is only about the make-up, and y'know what? That may well be the case now, their last two albums (Sonic Boom (2009) and Monster (2012)) are pretty disappointing: the sound of complacency as they surf the wave of brand recognition onto the beach in front of their exclusive retirement complex. However, back when music mattered and actually required us to invest emotionally rather than merely download and consume, KISS ruled the world. This band has earned the right to take it easy because it continues to inspire musicians, has recorded some incredible songs and has released some truly amazing albums. Here are just 5...
